Mice can carry disease

Although they don’t seem as disturbing as rats they are capable of spreading similar diseases including the dangerous Weils disease, and have the same gnawing habits, causing damage and, in the case of electrical wiring, potential danger to householders.

Mice are more erratic and inquisitive in their behaviour than rats. They tend to wander over food products and surfaces, causing serious contamination. They will feed from a large number of sites, eating most foods but with a preference for cereals.

Mice live for about a year and can produce eight litters in their lifetime of up to six young. Because mice are essentially nocturnal, it is unusual to see any actually running around before detecting the tell-tale sings of their presence like damage to packaging, spilled food products, gnaw marks, droppings, grease marks, smell and possibly footprints.
